Parents as Teachers (PAT) Educator-Wapello County

Sieda Parents as Teachers provides home visitation services in 5 counties of Southeast Iowa providing in-home services to families with children ages prenatal to Kindergarten.
Parents can refer themselves and enrollment in the program is always voluntary.
This position is primarily in Wapello county, with the possibility of some work in Mahaska county.
Parents As Teachers Educators provide ongoing in-home programming that promotes, empowers, and nurtures the family to understand their role as the first and most important teachers of their children through parent/child interactions.
Parents as Teachers Educators empower parents/caregivers through education to strengthen language, intellectual, motor and social development of their children.
Parents as Teachers helps communities partner with parents/caregivers to do a better job of preparing children for a stronger start in life by early detection of developmental delays, mental and physical health issues.
PAT Educators work with educators, child care providers and health providers to provide comprehensive care through referrals and partnerships.
This position is in the Economic and Family Support Services unit at Sieda.
Under the supervision of the Parents As Teachers Program Manager, this position has the responsibility for the implementation and delivery of Parents As Teachers services primarily to families in Wapello and occasionally, Mahaska County.
This position requires compensated travel in the 2 counties approximately 12 days a month.
This position also allows for working from home up to 2 days a week.
PRE-EMPLOYMENT REQUIREMENTS:
FORMAL EDUCATION:
- Requires a bachelors degree in Education/Social Work/Family Services or related field from an accredited four-year college or university.

Experience:
- Requires 2-4 years of experience in working with children and families.
Applicants must also have the ability to work in a highly confidential setting and be able to understand, learn, and adapt to new technology.
Employment is contingent upon a criminal background check including a registry check of past/current founded child abuse.
Salary range for this position is $36,000 - $42,000 / year and is commensurate with education and experience.
